Lose a Day, Lose a Lot

Mucca in pre-thaw state of mind.

All day Tuesday I thought it was Monday, which meant on Wednesday, I thought it was Tuesday which means this morning I thought it was Wednesday until my husband clearly pointed out, it was indeed Thursday.

Not only did I miss a day, but I missed it for three days.

In my defense I had the flu Sunday night and was quite ill for about 24 hrs, Keith followed suit the next night but limited his bout to 12 hours. This is a rare occurrence for us raw milk drinking, holy basil sipping, honey swilling, good bacteria loving, homesteaders.

Goes to prove, even we are susceptible to the creepy crawlies from time to time. But, all is well as temperatures have left the frigid zones and reached true balminess today. At nearly 40 degrees, outside chores were a joy. No ice to smash out of rubber pans, no little bitty birdy feet to warm in my hands, no shards of frozen fog to blind me. Of course with the thaw comes the mud, but small price to
pay for not having to even run the rocket mass stove last night.

Life is good. A couple neighbors even dropped by while I was doing evening chores and handed me a big plate full of freshly baked Christmas cookies. Who does that anymore?!? The best people do, that's who.

Tomorrow it is going to get even better. Stay tuned for big news. BIG BIG news.

  1. I have calendars all over my house because now that I don't go to work , I don't really have much reason to worry about what day it is. So I tend to lose track.

Hope you get to feeling better.

    1. I feel fine now, thanks. We have calendars. One to write down important things, the other to remind us to write down important things.

  2. I know what you mean about loosing a day, it throws everything out for the week. Hope you are now both over the flu. Happy Christmas to you both.

  3. I'm not as organized as Harry but since I retired/work from home, I've had to label my 'daily' pill so that I don't forget to take the damn thing when I miss a day. It's easy to do when you don't have a regular schedule. I think they call it "Island Time".

    1. I used to take pills several years ago, then when I forgot what I was taking them for, I just stopped taking them. So far so good. I think.

  4. I lose days all the time! I think I may know what your news is; YOU'VE SEEN SANTA CLAUS FLYING OVER. Am I right?

  5. Yup me too on occasion if it is called for. I agree 40 is down right balmy for morning chores. So I etched it in my memory banks so when we hit freezing and below I will have fond memories of it. But then with luck 40 will become the high. Big changes coming OH MY!

    1. This weekend in Illinois a high of 54! Going to have to pull out the shorts and tank tops again. Fair warning.

  6. I hope you feel better soon. Especially since it's Christmas tomorrow.

I made some ginger syrup to add to my next batch of (2nd ferment) kombucha. I notice, if I leave it an extra day longer, it has quite a kick to it. That will be our yule tide for this festive season, lol. Maybe some whiskey for yours, to burn the cold out. For medicinal purposes, of course. ;)

    1. No worries, I feel great, only ill a short time and I love ginger tea! I'll often let the ginger root sit in my cup a couple days and keep adding boiling water to it. it does get kicky with time. And of course a little Jameson as a nightcap is always welcome.

Comments are good, as long as you're a real person and not some goof telling me how you were cured of hepatitis by snorting a pulverized neon blue crayon. Your comments don't even have to agree with my viewpoint, I love a good discussion, but civility does matter.
